Random CIET Questions

I was just laying in bed and curious here about AROTC CIET...

I've been reading of some non-contracted cadets getting slots; are they still being paid to go by the government or are they going as a "volunteer"?

Also, my current roommate attended CIET last year and they PT'ed 4 times through the entire month, if anyone has input or experience are we allowed to use the base gym on down time? (Which I heard there is a lot of)
